Who I am
So, you came to this section to figure out a bit more about who I am and if there's any point in reaching out. I could just be that unicorn counsellor you've been looking for. (Or not, and that's ok - go and find your person!)
So what do I do?
Mostly you will talk. I will listen and sometimes talk: reflect back to you, offer you additional perspectives, lead you through some exercises with the intention of guiding you to explore your inner landscape and figure out where you're stuck. Generally, my mission is to help others bring joy into their lives by courageously examining what's going on right now and how they got there.
My sessions are all about connection. Building a genuine connection with me as your counsellor will get you going in deepening your connection with yourself. Once you're connected with yourself, life just becomes easier and a whole bunch more manageable (dare I say, FUN?!)
Who's my focus?
While I focus on those of us born in the 80s and 90s, I love to work with everyone (so if you're not a millennial, but like what I do, get in touch!). I love working with people who are trying to find their niche, solidify their identity, deal with past 'stuff' and just cope with life as it is.
For the parents amongst us, battling through the maze of child-rearing, I am here to help you work through all the childhood stuff that might be getting in the way of being a truly fulfilled mom or dad. I believe in conscious parenting, attachment parenting and parenting with authority and boundaries to help our young people feel safe and thrive as their own individual selves.
What's my Approach?
When I meet with you, I do so with the awareness that you already have all the answers within. Sometimes, there are just a whole lot of blockers that stop you from living with authenticity and joy. That's the heart of person-centered therapy, and it's how I approach every client.
My thinking has been shaped by incredible voices like Gabor Maté, Bessel van der Kolk, Harville Hendrix, and Erica Komisar. I weave together insights from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Brandon Bays' Journey Work, whatever I sense would serve you best in the moment.
Meditation and yoga keep me anchored in my own life, and I bring that same sense of presence to our sessions. I'm fascinated by how our bodies hold emotional wisdom: sensations, pain or tension in our body are always telling us something important. During our work, we will pay attention to those signals together and find out what they mean for you and your life.
And, if you're curious, a little more about me:
Based in the Deep South of Cape Town, I live with my husband and young daughter and the chaos they bring. My foundation in counselling is my Honours degree in Psychology. I am also a qualified primary school teacher - my teaching experience taught me that we are all little kids locked up in adult bodies and that very often, we operate from those little-kid perspectives.
My diverse background, from teaching to co-founding an online education company, has given me a unique perspective on the challenges of finding your path. These experiences gradually led me to focusing full-time on my desire to work with people one-on-one. I studied with FAMSA, Lifeline and Humanitas and I'm now registered as a Specialist Wellness Counsellor with the Association of Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners.

Why do I do this?
I really love working with people. I love hearing all their deep shit. I love giving people a chance to really talk and be really, really deeply listened to. I love watching people's lives change just because they've started to think about things differently. And I love being there on the hard days, just to get them through.
